Brand Collaboration: Singapore Trading Post
After nearly three years of being in Covid-lockdown in Hong Kong with a newborn in a tiny apartment with no outdoor space, we decided it was time for a change.
We weighed our options and Singapore emerged to the top of our shortlist, which also included New York and London. For us, Singapore won out due to its family-friendliness and proximity to our current companies’ regional headquarters.
Within weeks we had work approvals, visas, and an apartment lease (sight unseen due to the heavy competition from other Hongkongers, Chinese, expats from around the world).
When we finally arrived in our new home, we were blown away by the amount of outdoor space the apartment offered in the form of a 500-square foot terrace. After living in NYC for 27 years and then Hong Kong for 12, having outdoor space was unheard of.
So naturally, we made it a priority to make the space a very special tropical oasis for Paul and I to unwind in our free time (which we’re still trying to find!) and also for little Avery to crawl around.
Our main priority was finding a beautiful pair of lounge chairs that fit our aesthetic, which blends heritage pieces with a modern flair. We wanted the perfect balance between a heritage style, durability, and comfort and over the next few weeks, we searched endlessly across town.
One weekend, after walking around Tan Boon Liat’s array of furniture shops, we were so pleased to find the PERFECT piece at Singapore Trading Post.
